Steps & Requirements

Step 1) Review Admission Requirements:

If you plan to transfer to UNI, admission is dependent on prior GPA. View transfer admission requirements.

Step 2) Apply for Admission:

You can apply as early as one year before your intended entry term. Click on the Checklist for Undergraduate Admission for a detailed list of items.

Step 3) Schedule a Campus Visit:

The campus visit is an important step to deciding on the right college. If you haven’t visited campus and taken a tour, come see why you’ll be proud to call UNI home!

Step 4) Seek Financial Aid:

Be sure to submit your FAFSA in January or February. Additionally, you can available scholarships and complete the UNI Scholarship Application on our Financial Aid website. Our Financial Aid staff is here to assist you in finding ways to fund your education.

Step 5) Commit to UNI:

To accept your offer of admission, you must complete an online acceptance form and pay your acceptance fee, available at: admissions.uni.edu/accept.

Step 6) Complete Housing Application:

Complete a housing contract online.  You must accept your offer of admission and submit your acceptance fee in order to complete the housing contract.  Visit uni.edu/dor to get started.

Step 7) Sign up for Orientation:

You will receive orientation information in the postal mail.  At orientation, you will meet with an adviser who will assist you in selecting courses.  You will then register for those courses.  This is also when you will get your UNI ID card.

Step 8) Stay Tuned:

Continue to check your mail and email (the one you listed on your application) for updates, announcements and reminders!
