Receiving Financial Aid
Learn about applying for financial aid, how to view your financial aid offer and a timeline of items to complete as you are preparing to start your journey at UNI.

Completing the FAFSA
One of the most important steps to receive financial aid is completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA opens on October 1 each year and should be completed as soon as possible, as some types of aid are limited. The UNI priority date for the FAFSA is January 15.

Verification
Once you have completed your FAFSA, you may be selected for a process called verification. This just means that you will need to provide additional documentation to confirm what you reported on your FAFSA to ensure we can create an accurate financial aid offer. Make sure to submit any requested documentation as soon as possible. Your financial aid won't be able to pay out until verification is complete.

Special Circumstances
When you complete the FAFSA, you will use tax and income information from two years prior. If your financial situation has changed and the information on the FAFSA no longer accurately represents your current financial situation, you may want to consider completing a special circumstance appeal.
