UNI Welcomes Military Members and Veterans

Hundreds of military members, their families and veterans feel right at home at UNI. We understand your unique needs as you transition from military life to college to the workforce. And we’re here to make your transition to campus life as smooth as possible.

Here’s why UNI is the right fit for military and veteran students:

  • UNI was named a Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs magazine, placing us in the top 20 percent of schools doing the most to embrace America’s veteran students and ensure their success.

  • Nearly 270 UNI students receive VA benefits, and many receive Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits to help cover college costs.

  • UNI charges in-state tuition and fees to any qualified veteran, as defined by the Veteran Access, Choice, and Accountability Act of 2014 (VACAA), who enrolls. Spouses and dependent children may be eligible for resident tuition. Any Iowa National Guard service member, whether a resident of Iowa or not, is also eligible.

  • We offer traditional on-campus classes as well as online, distance, and night and weekend classes to fit busy schedules.

If you want to pursue an education at a college that recognizes and appreciates your military experience and commitment, UNI is the right fit!
