Transferring to UNI

Discover where you belong at UNI.

If you’ve taken classes at another college or university and want to transfer those credits to UNI, you’re in good company. Each year, more than 35 percent of our incoming students have transferred to UNI from two- and four-year schools. Some of them have an associate’s degree, while some have just a few classes under their belt. Either way, our academic advisors make your transfer process easy to understand and easy to complete.

  • If you want to know what courses you should take at an Iowa community college, based on your major at UNI, use our Transfer Plans of Study.

  • Students with an A.A. degree from an Iowa or Illinois community college will have satisfied UNI's Liberal Arts Core (Gen Ed), except for a Non-Western Cultures course and a Capstone Experience course.

  • Our transfer resources have been developed to assist you with a smooth transition. Also, you may want to check out our Transfer Guide created specifically for transfer students.
