Human Resource Management with Social Welfare minor
Clear Lake, Iowa
Career Goal(s): I’d like to work for a corporate Human Resources department, but am keeping the options open. I want to find a job that I love.
What kind of on-campus organizations/activities are you involved in? How does that involvement enrich your overall college experience?
I working in the Admissions office as a Student Telecounseling Admissions Representative and I also work in the phone bank! I am apart of Student Admissions Ambassadors, as wells as a Peer Mentor and Cat Crew. Being apart of all these things has really enriched my college experience because I get to help students find their love for UNI, and once they’re here I can help them continue to grow it! I’ve met so many wonderful people through my organizations, and I’ve made a lot of new lifelong friends.
What would you tell someone who is thinking about transferring to UNI?
Do It! It is easily one of the best decisions I have made! It’s the perfect size, the school's culture and atmosphere is really positive and friendly, and you have so many opportunities here!
How has your academic experience been? Tell us about any great classes or professors that inspired or challenged you. Are you happy with your major choice?
When I transferred, I was originally a social work major. I really like the aspects of the major (like helping people), but I didn’t feel passionate about it. I ended up switching to human resources, which I really love and I know that this is the major for me. I’ve definitely have been challenged by the accounting courses, but it’s also helped me improve my study habits.
